Giving Apple a Chance
I have been either a Commodore 64 or a Windows PC user since I was in kindergarten. I have never owned an Apple, nor have I ever truly given them a fair chance at winning over my heart. That is all about to change. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are going to square off in my home office and you will get the play-by-play report.

X11 is on the Tiger installation DVD.

Indeed, go do a search on "Abiword" - you want it. It's a nice lightweight word processor that can read .DOC files just fine. It's open source and doesn't have all the crap in there that you're used to with MS Word.
Runs much nicer than OpenOffice, too, considering our limited memory.
